Hi Gary!
I saw you play the Phantom two years ago in Phoenix for my 16th birthday, and I was blown away! You were the BEST Phantom there ever was (and will be! Ha ha). I have, since then, seen 'Phantom' in London and Las Vegas, but neither of those Phantoms compared to you (don't get me wrong...they were good...but not as good as you! big grin ). Your 'All I Ask of You (Reprise)' made me cry sooo much! I wish I could have seen Beth play Christine, but the night I went she wasn't schedueled. I now have my little sister (6 years old) addicted to Phantom and she knows almost every word of the musical. She went and saw it in Las Vegas with me last year and she loved it. But I've told her that she hasn't REALLY heard Phantom until she hears you sing it (ha ha).
Jenny (my sister) and I are also big fans of Steve Barton (well, of his music...since, sadly, he's not around anymore frown) and I think your voice is similar to his (and by 'similar' I mean 'amazing'!)
Anyhoo...just wanted to say 'Thank You' for portraying such an amazing Phantom and I hope to hear you sing again one day!
Julia

Hi Gary, I love you soooooo much. Why did you have to quit doing the phantom. You were great doing the phantom. Although I was not happy the time I saw you on stage and at the end you said that some of the cast members were going to be out there and you weren't out there. Oh well I will always love you and you will always be my #1 favorite stage phantom no matter what.

I think I accidentally said this as a private message but I'll say it again because I think everyone can benefit from hearing this who reads it. I'm a huge Gary Mauer fan and the both of them inspired me very greatly. The second time I met Gary Mauer he said something when we were talking about make it a rule not to be negative and a goal to be positive. That really helped me in many ways especially one time when I did something stupid (won't go into details) and I realized that this applies not only to my interaction with others but the way I act with myself too. My friend laughingly let me know it was no big deal. I was certainly not the first person in the world to do that and I would likely not be the last...lol. Anyway even so I would NORMALLY have been feeling guilty for a long time but I reminded myself of what my friend said and my self esteem has really improved since I started living by that moto "make it a rule not to be negative and a goal to be positive". I am very pro positivity too big grin. Also I read about something diffucult (again won't go into details) and all in all the smiles and the cheerfullness even in the midst of the tough times showed me that no matter how diffucult things are they'll always get better. I don't know the whole story. I do know that things can and will always get better maybe 100%. Anyway so that's my message and I'm sorry if it's gibbered a little bit

I don't think either of you could possibly know how much of an insperation you were to me. I remember being a major Gary Mauer fan for like 3 years before I met you the first time. That was cool but the second time you said something I will never forget.
Make it a rule not to be negative and a goal to be positive. I don't remember how that conversation came up but I remember that saying and that saying truely influenced me. I used to be very critical of myself. I still am at times but for instance after I did something stupid one time instead of criticizing myself I remembered that the rule not to be negative applied not only towards other people but to myself as well. So I reminded myself as one of my friends reminded me :-D that I'm only human and from time to time I'm going to make mistakes. I felt a little dumb for a couple of minute but I realized that it wasn't a big deal and everything was fine.
I also remember reading something that you had said online. It was said before the first time I'd met you and so anyway I figured out about the first one. Anyway that in combination with that "rule not to be negative and goal to be positive" made me realize that no matter how bad things get they can always get better. That has helped me in so many ways. Sorry if anything I said didn't make sense but the long and short of it all is that you've been inspirational in my life and I really wanted to say thank you. I wish all of you the best and may the best occur
